Green Glue Packages Soundproofing Products for New Construction

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

The Green Glue Company visited Hanley Wood last week to talk about its group of noiseproofing products, and to announce that it now offers these products together as a system for new construction.

The package includes four components: Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound, clips, sealant, and joist tape.

–Noiseproofing Compound comes in dispensable tubes, or can be tooled using a caulk gun. It applies between two sheets of drywall, plywood, or other building substrates to convert sound vibration into small amounts of heat.

–Drywall clips further dampen sound transmission by allowing each side of the wall to vibrate independently.

–The sealant plugs up gaps and cracks in walls and ceilings that allow for noise transfer.

–Joist tape helps eliminate a common household frustration, squeaky floors. It is applied between joists and sub-flooring, preventing them from rubbing together to cause noise.

Using the products as a system can block 97% of noise, said Brian Ravnaas, technical innovation manager. He added that products can be used throughout the house, or for particular rooms, such as laundry rooms and home theaters. –Victoria Markovitz
